Murrini Bowl - Rose/Cobalt
Murrini Bowl - Rose/Cobalt
This handblown piece was made with Murrini to create a kaleidoscope pattern in the bowl. Murrini are colored patterns or images made into glass canes that are revealed when the cane is cut into thin cross-sections. Each cane is then arranged on a hot plate into the desired pattern. Clear glass is gathered into a cylinder shape on the pipe and then laid across the heated murrini causing them to melt into the glass on the blow pipe. The piece can then be blown and shaped into its final form.
Making of Murrini glass dates back 4,000 years to the middle east. It is a very demanding art form that few master as skillfully as Kenny has over his 4 decades of blowing glass. A true statement piece in any setting. Gorgeous colored shadows that show on the table beneath and/or wall behind it.
